We divided the major events of WWII by the primary countries involved: Germany, USSR, UK, France, US, and outliers (Japan, Italy, Poland, etc.).
For each of the events your country(s) was involved in, you are to state the general mindset for participating, objectives for participation, and the reality of the outcomes of the event.
We will share the whole story of the moving pieces in class.
This is the venue where AP Euro students can find resources and more information in their quest for knowledge and wisdom.

Miss Gonzalez's Age of Anxiety Poem
Philosophy
No longer will the mind be in perfect order
It will seep and creep from every corner,
Taking by surprise,
Becoming a new beacon of hope, but in a disguise.
The death of God has left everyone astray,
Letting humanity be easy prey
To the storms and tornadoes of the world.
Humanity is indeed disturbed
That everything is not as it seems.
Science and rational thinking is no longer deemed
The accurate way to consider.
Instead, mysticism and experience is the way to differ.
Marxian Socialism is but an an anomaly,
Controlled by what seems to be the aristocracy.
What seems to be nonsense will not be allowed,
Forming no hope, no speck of light, but a dark cloud.
People wonder, " Even the great and might God?"
"Then, this means that we may no longer bring him laud."
Yes, God, even freedom and mortality are a waste of your time.
It's time to respond to the new chime.
Not even we matter;
All our hopes and desires are shattered
But, still, a dapple of light is visible,
Although it may be minimal.
We can discover who we are,
Finding within us our star.
We can be free
To see
That we can overcome life
And any of its strife.
No longer will the mind be in perfect order
It will seep and creep from every corner,

Becoming a new beacon of hope, but in a disguise.

Mr. Cong's Age of Anxiety Poem
The Atom by Justin Cong
1919 was where it all began:
This is the road to 1945, Japan.
Rutherford split the atom, releasing
Enormous amounts of energy, creating
Destruction. 5 years later, Broglie of France
Said that electrons behaved as waves (not by chance!).
Scrödinger soon after created the quantum model; then another twist:
Chadwick in 1932 proved that the neutron really did exist.
Now atoms were finally being understood: 1935 brought more hope,
When Arthur Dempster discovered the Uranium-235 isotope.
His discovery was soon researched by Peierls and Frisch,
Who calculated that one kilo of 235 would explode without a hitch.
The US Government in 1942 approved the Manhattan project
Originally against Germany, but it soon had to redirect;
The target was now Japan, and on July 16, 1945 the first
Atom bomb was detonated in New Mexico: a success, yet a curse.
Japan wasn't willing to give in, so the US decided to use their new powers,
Unfortunately, it was a power that called for innocent blood and flowers.
August 6, 1945—in Hiroshima, over 80,000 were killed immediately.
Three days later, Nagasaki saw 75,000 perish instantaneously.
Japan soon surrendered unconditionally,
Ending the road for a weapon that killed maliciously.

Two months from today you will take the AP exam. There is much to do between now and then, and we are in a good place as far as pacing. You should begin the review process now if you have not already.
Be sure you finish "Age of Anxiety - Thought, Science, and Art" with your group for Monday.

Lots of WWI News in the News
This is the 100 year anniversary of the Great War. In the next four years, there will be a host of articles wrestling with the bloody and inconclusive aftermath of one of Europe's most devastating wars. And old questions of who is responsible are already rearing their heads.
How should a country commemorate their participation in WWI? How does a country like Serbia or Germany respond? How should Serbia talk about Gavrilo Princip (above)? These are sticky questions.
HERE is an interesting introductory article.
